@wessven Calling somebody "lady" is rude. "Hey, lady, watch your step." "Sit down, lady." There's no equivalently disrespectful male term.
@wessven Exactly. "Past sell-by date. Couldn't find a man. Old maid." There's no equivalent for men. Bachelorette is a new word to fix this.
@wessven An unmarried female is a spinster. Bachelorette finally gaining traction, but still. Try calling somebody you don't know "lady".
